Spectators at OCRWC 2024, Mammoth Lakes

Athletes? Check

Volunteers? Check

What else makes The OCR World Championships one of the best OCR event weekends out there? Spectators.

There’s nothing like the buzz that comes from the multitudes of supporters and spectators who come together to cheer on every single one of our athletes; whether they are crossing the line in first place or 500th, every single one is victorious, and your support spurs them on to keep pushing.

Spectators and supporters at OCRWC are always free, and always welcome! Whilst spectating is completely free, we do ask you register and obtain a spectator pass. This can be done when you purchase your race tickets, here, or onsite at registration.

Racing starts Friday morning with the 3k and continues throughout the weekend with the 15k on Saturday, team and charity on Sunday, and the 100m throughout the whole weekend with finals happening on Sunday. Click here for the full schedule.

We also hold podium awards every day for Age Group and Pro which is always a wonderful moment to support all these achievements.

The most spectator-friendly obstacles, plus start and finish lines will be easily found near Canyon Lodge, Mammoth Village. Course maps will be added online once available, but it will be hard to miss the hub of everything!

More obstacles will be further up the mountain but please take local advice, and bear in mind mountain safety if you choose to support further afield.

OCRWC runs waves for Pro, Age Group, and Journey Man. For the Pros, race around the course supporting them on the obstacles. Journey men love to be called in as they come through the finish line, and everyone needs the encouragement and support on the trickiest of obstacles when they’re low on morale!

While at many sporting events, bringing refreshments for athletes is part of the fun, at OCRWC this is not allowed for athletes, so the best way to support is to cheer, scream, ring bells, and be as excited and encouraging as you can be!

If you want to get involved more than as a spectator, you can sign up as a volunteer here, and receive branded volunteer goodies, plus a race code to take part in the event for free so you don’t have to miss out on any of the fun!

We can’t wait to see you at Mammoth Lakes and hope you’ll love this event as much as we do.

Francesca started running OCR in 2013, and after devouring all the information she could find on the sport, she began writing about it herself. With OCR quickly gaining traction in the UK where she lives, she launched her own site, Mud Is My Makeup, in 2014.

Since then she has gone on to produce content for publications including OCR Europe, Mud Run Guide, Mudstacle, Obstacle Race Magazine, and Obstacle Mud Runner Magazine, as well as OCRWC.

Francesca loves exploring every aspect of the sport as much as she loves to explore the courses themselves. Very much an average athlete, her goal has always been to encourage the everyday person to get muddy and active and discover how much joy suffering out on a course can bring.

Her first experience of OCRWC was the epic Blue Mountain in 2016, although she’d been following the event from the early days. The whole atmosphere, set up, and experience had her hooked and she knew that this was an organization that she not only wanted to support, but be involved with, and to help bring the spirit of OCRWC to a wider audience.
