World OCR Rankings – February 2023

In our second installment of the World OCR Rankings, we turn now to monthly results. Last month we published the pre-season rankings, a look at the year ahead, based on the final few months of racing in 2022.

February is a quiet time in OCR, and so this month is focused heavily on our OCR athletes performance in hybrid racing. We’re seeing a USA heavy leaderboard, although we have two new entries from the UK in the Men’s results. Gavin Hogarth (UK, 7) with 6 points and Jesse Betts (UK, 10) with 4.25 points.

Shooting to the top of the male leaderboard is Rylan Schadegg (USA, 1) up 6 places from our pre-season rankings. Schadegg had a great month with appearances at Austin & Houston and topping the DekaFit leaderboard. He is closely followed by Robert Killian, (USA, 2) who had a successful weekend at Jacksonville with two top spot podiums at the Sprint & Super.

Jacksonville was also the location of the first Spartan 3k event, and new entry Mary Gerth (USA, 3) earned her position with 2nd place in the 3k and 1st in the Super.

Mikaela Norman (SWE, 6) is another new entry, after taking first place at the Hyrox NA champs, while David Magida (USA, 5) takes 5th place in the Men’s with his 1st at the same champs, now sitting at 4 in the Hyrox leaderboard.

From here OCR events start to kick off, so expect to see big changes happening across the board, and as always, results are based on who performed in the previous month.

Francesca started running OCR in 2013, and after devouring all the information she could find on the sport, she began writing about it herself. With OCR quickly gaining traction in the UK where she lives, she launched her own site, Mud Is My Makeup, in 2014.

Since then she has gone on to produce content for publications including OCR Europe, Mud Run Guide, Mudstacle, Obstacle Race Magazine, and Obstacle Mud Runner Magazine, as well as OCRWC.

Francesca loves exploring every aspect of the sport as much as she loves to explore the courses themselves. Very much an average athlete, her goal has always been to encourage the everyday person to get muddy and active and discover how much joy suffering out on a course can bring.

Her first experience of OCRWC was the epic Blue Mountain in 2016, although she’d been following the event from the early days. The whole atmosphere, set up, and experience had her hooked and she knew that this was an organization that she not only wanted to support, but be involved with, and to help bring the spirit of OCRWC to a wider audience.
