The OCR World Championships (OCRWC), the premier independent world championship for the burgeoning sport of Obstacle Course Racing, announced today that a number of race series have joined their network of Qualifying Races in support of an internationally unified sport.

“2015 is a critical year for Obstacle Course Racing,” said OCRWC Chief Operating Officer Brad Kloha. “The addition of these high-quality races to our network of qualifying events is indicative of their desire to be part of something special and will help us develop Obstacle Course Racing into the world-class sport it deserves to be.”

The races include The Battlegrounds and F.I.T. Challenge in the United States, Nordic Race in Denmark, Tvrd’ák in Slovakia, and Canada’s Dead End Race.

“Since our beginning, we at F.I.T. Challenge have promoted and fostered the idea of races working together. The OCR United philosophy is embedded in our company’s fabric.” Said Robb McCoy of F.I.T. Challenge. “Now, we are a part of the most united OCR organization on the planet and couldn’t be prouder to share this with our participants.”

We are truly grateful for this opportunity, which is both an honor and a privilege,” said The Battlegrounds owner Carl Bolm. “The recognition connects our athletes from St. Louis and the Midwest to other champions from around the world. That’s some amazingly powerful support, and we appreciate this partnership and all that it represents.”

“As the official footwear sponsor of the OCRWC, Icebug is excited to help support the continuing expansion of the 2015 race series,” said Evan Wert, President of Icebug USA. “Obstacle course racing is one of the fastest growing sports in the world; we are proud of the team at OCRWC and the growth they have achieved to highlight this ever-expanding sport. Our Icebug consumer athletes and team of professional racers will undoubtedly enjoy the upcoming events!”

Athlete qualification requirements are specific to each race series as follows:

The Battlegrounds: Top 20 finish in your gender in either distance
