FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The OCR World Championships (OCRWC), obstacle course racing’s first independent championship, furthered its reach into international territory with today’s announcement of new qualifying events and digital media partners. This marks another important moment in what is anticipated to be the most collaborative event in the sport’s history.

With immediate effect, all 2014 Toughest races will be OCRWC qualifying events with the top 20 athletes from each gender qualifying for the October 25 & 26 World Championship which will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Toughest race series is one of the broadest in the world with races across Northern Europe and Scandinavia.

“Toughest events are among the most challenging in the world and raise the bar for obstacle racing,” said OCRWC Founder Adrian Bijanada. “With the addition of their events, we are once again demonstrating to the racing community that we intend to make this event one of the broadest and most collaborative races in the world.”

“From early on, Toughest has been focused on the competitive side of OCR,” said Toughest CEO Nils Franzén. “The initiative taken by OCRWC is therefore something we truly appreciate and we are impressed by what they are doing for the sport of OCR and its community. We are honored to be chosen as a qualifying race.”

Additionally, after a very successful first event, the Bushido Challenge has also been selected as a qualifier race series with top five finishers in each age group from the August 2nd race to be eligible to compete in the World Championships.

“We are excited to be a qualifier”, said Bushido Challenge CEO David Martin. “Our amazing participants, which have come from all over the country to compete in our unique events, now have the added opportunity to compete to qualify for the OCR World Championships.”

OCRWC organizers have partnered with first-of-their kind digital media partners OCR Warrior and OCR.tv

Recently announced OCR Warrior is slated to be the first reality show based obstacle course racing and is scheduled for 24 weekly episodes in 2014, all of which will be available for free on OCR.tv, an upcoming digital entertainment network focused on the burgeoning sport of obstacle course racing.

“We’ve developed the world’s only head-to-head obstacle course challenge, where two athletes battle it out on a 1-mile course designed to challenge their skill, strength, and stamina in order to take home cash, prizes, free entry into the OCR World Championships, and the title of OCR Warrior,” stated OCR Warrior CEO Brett Stewart. “Our partnership with the OCR World Championships gives us access to amazing venues, talented athletes, and the ability to showcase the excitement of obstacle course racing from the inside.”

“From the onset, it’s been our belief that this sport will thrive when companies and organizations in the space chose to collaborate rather than compete,” said Bijanada. “Cooperative projects like these shine a spotlight on obstacle racing’s athletes and its community, which will help bring OCR to the forefront of the sporting world.”
