2020 Obstacle Course Racing World Championships Will Be Held in Stratton, Vermont, USA
Adventurey, the producer of world-class obstacle course races (OCR), announced today that the seventh annual independent Obstacle Course Racing World Championships (OCRWC) will be held at Stratton Mountain Resort, Vermont, USA, October 2-4, 2020.
“We cannot wait to introduce all of our athletes to everything Stratton Mountain has to offer,” said Adrian Bijanada, Adventurey Founder & CEO. “The terrain at Stratton, combined with peak Vermont autumn foliage, will create a uniquely New England atmosphere unlike anything the obstacle course racing community has experienced before.”
Stratton Mountain is a familiar venue for championship OCR athletes. It has played host to Adventurey’s independent North American Obstacle Course Racing Championships (NorAm) for the past two years.
Stratton’s slopeside Village is a crowd favorite with lodging, bars, restaurants, shops, live music, and a spa that provides athletes and their supporters with a complete family-friendly weekend destination. In 2019, the NorAm course took athletes through the heart of Stratton Village, providing unparalleled spectating for pedestrians and restaurant and bar patrons.
“Stratton is a championship-caliber venue with the facilities and infrastructure to provide our athletes and spectators with the best possible experience in the sport of OCR,” Bijanada said.
The 2020 event marks a return to American soil after four years abroad. Since its 2014 debut in rural Ohio to a few hundred athletes, the event has grown into an annual competition that attracts thousands of world-class athletes from more than 60 nations.
The three-day OCR World Championships offers five different races to accommodate all types of athletes.
The flagship 3K and 15K distance races are only open to qualified age-group and professional athletes. Competitors in these two events must first qualify in one of hundreds of races across the globe to earn the right to toe the start line alongside the best athletes in the sport.
The 100-meter sprint, team relay and charity open require no qualification and are open to anyone looking to experience a world-class OCR course.
Registration for the 2020 OCR World Championships opens November 1, 2019 at www.ocrwc.com.
More details about the event, including course maps and obstacles, will be released in the months leading up to the event.
