FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The OCR World Championships (OCRWC), obstacle course racing’s first independent championship is expanding into new international territory. Today the inclusion of a new international qualifying event was announced with The Jeep Warrior Race, one of South Africa’s largest obstacle race series. This adds to an already impressive list of qualifier races that includes qualifying races that has extended its reach into the UK with the Dirty Dozen Races, Nuclear Race and Tough Guy, the Netherlands with Mud Masters and Strong Viking, and Australia with True Grit.

“Our vision of unifying this sport is starting to become a reality in a big way,” said OCRWC founder Adrian Bijanada. “With the addition of The Jeep Warrior Race, and with their top athletes coming to the States in October, this event is poised to be one of the most diverse competitions in OCR history. It will truly be a global representation of the sport.”

Taking advantage of a booming market in South Africa, The Jeep Warrior Race is a rapidly growing race series offering eight events in 2014. Participants at each of their races through October will have the opportunity to qualify for the OCRWC by finishing in the top 20 of their age group. Additionally, race organizers will sponsor their top elite male and female to attend the OCR World Championships which are being held on October 25th & 26th in Cincinnati, OH.

The Jeep Warrior Race organization said: “It is a privilege to be the only recognized qualifying obstacle race on the continent and we are excited to be able to afford our Warriors the opportunity to become eligible to compete at the OCR World Championships. The depth of talent in our elite Black Ops events should prove to be on world standard and we look forward seeing our Jeep Warriors take on the rest of the world. ”
